Visiting Freedom House Freedom House is housed in the former convent of St. Anne’s Church in Southwest Detroit. From downtown Detroit, drive west on Lafayette. We are the first building on the street’s north side after 18th Street. You may park on Lafayette or in the lot behind the house. However, all visitors must enter the house through the front door. Please ring the doorbell and someone will welcome you inside. Please remember that Freedom House is a shelter. As such, we ask all visitors to make an appointment before coming to the house. If you have a donation to drop off, a quick call ahead will suffice.
